Squeaky Wheel Fringe Returns June 3-8, 2025
This Year's Fringe Line-up is:
Did You Not Know?- Sarasota, FL (Theatre)
Did You Not Know? is a collection of true stories about loss, love, and second chances that will have you laughing, cringing, and thinking, “How did she not know?” It’s also a love letter to Sarasota—coming back home as an adult after years away. Written and performed by Terrance Jackson.
Mamá Mala- Sarasota, FL (Dance Theatre/Stand-Up Comedy)
Mamá Mala is a one-woman dance theater piece that explores the complexities of motherhood and womanhood—society’s expectations, personal sacrifices, and the inevitable imperfections of getting it “right.” Blending stand-up comedy with exaggerated movement and dark humor, it examines the weight of judgment: from partners who leave, to children who resent, to a culture that deems a woman incomplete without motherhood. Through laughter and raw honesty, Mamá Mala confronts the impossibility of perfection and the many ways women navigate love, loss, and self-worth in a world that never stops demanding more.
The Paradox of the Mirror- Sarasota, FL (Dance)
The Paradox of the Mirror, choreographed by Tania Vergara Perez for Endedans Contemporary Ballet, is an interdisciplinary work combining dance, video, and painting to explore the relationship between time, identity, and memory. The work draws inspiration from Cuban artist Guillermo López González’s depiction of the mangrove and its diverse forms.
Worthy Souls- Bradenton, FL (Musical Theatre)
Worthy Souls is an original folk-rock musical following a day in the life of Skye, a homeless man in debilitating conditions. Beautiful songs infused with dissonance and haunting lyrics tell a dark and powerful story with humorous and psychological twists and turns. For Skye, The past has become today.
Untethered Breath-Sarasota, FL (Dance)
Untethered Breath is an ethereal dance piece that dives into one’s journey of life. The breath of our journey is impacted by decisions of those around us, as well as our own. Ultimately, this breath changes one's energy, radiating out to others, and affecting them in either a positive or negative manner. To enhance the perspective of the piece, this ripple of energy between souls will be portrayed using multiple mediums of art.
The Dropping Well- Tampa, FL (Theatre)
A new one-woman adventure is based on the true story of Ursula Sontheil aka Mother Shipton: famous Tudor soothsayer, daughter of the devil, and legend long after her lifetime. Follow Ursula on a funny, moving and mind-blowing journey through her life, through time, and on to eternal fame.
Wow Wee! Adventures of a Little Girl Killbot Christmas Special!- NY, NY (Improv)
IRTE is back at Squeaky Wheel again with Wow Wee! Adventures of a Little Girl Killbot Christmas Special! Wow Wee! is a live, improvised, post-apocalyptic 80s sitcom Christmas Special! What's a little girl robot to do now that the singularity has occurred –and just in time for Christmas? Check in with the Trumans, America's favorite TV family and their mechanical moppet, Andie the Android, as they face the End of the World and discover the True Meaning of Christmas (or else). Wow Wee! It's a post-apocalyptic 80s sitcom Christmas Special!
The Creative Challenge: Fringe Edition
What's a Creative Challenge? It's a non-genre specific exhibition where participating artists receive a single prompt, and a limited amount of time later get to showcase their response to it. After the success of January's 24-Hour Creative Challenge Squeaky Wheel decided to offer a week-long edition with the theme being announced at our Fringe Teaser show. This is a unique experience you won't want to miss out on!
Not sure what to see? Check out out Fringe Teaser! The first night of Fringe all of the shows get a few minutes to tell you why their show is not to be missed! It's a "Pay What You Can" event, so it's a great way to get to know the shows and plan out how you want to Fringe. Back by popular demand, Jason Ellis, AKA Swanky Valli, will be our host for the evening so be prepared to laugh. This show is for adults only and not for the easily offended.
